Welcoming spouses and family members at CERN

The second Welcome Drink for Spouses and Family Members was organised on 9 May. The event, aims to facilitate integration both socially and professionally for CERN employees, their families and spouses, recently relocated in the local area.

During the Welcome Drink, the participants had the opportunity to attend presentations from the Geneva Welcome Center (CAGI), a welcoming network for newly arrived employees of international organisations and agencies; the “Groupement Transfrontalier Européen” (GTE), an association designed for cross-border workers; the International Dual Career Network (IDCN), an association created by companies of the Lake Geneva region for spouses looking for employment. James Purvis, Head of the Human Resources department welcomed all participants with a short introduction on the support structures CERN developed to ease the integration of newcomers.

Furthermore, the Welcoming Drink accomodates representatives from the CERN internal services and Staff Association who provide information to the participants concerning housing, childcare, education, CERN Health Insurance Scheme, language courses, job search and the CERN Clubs.

The next edition of the Welcome Drink will be held on 26 September 2017, at CERN.
